About Shape Charitable Trust (SACHETA)
SACHETA was founded on 19th August 2005 (Registration No. 4473) with its office at BH 49, Sector II, Kolkata, West Bengal. While the main focus has been oneducation, SACHETA also works on the principle of holistic development,providing support in areas of health and environment upgradation, keeping inview the local needs and challenges.
An initial brainchild of Prof. Muni Chakrabarti and Shri Tushar Bhattacharya ofSHAPE (a consultancy firm working in the field of holistic development), the ideaof forming a philanthropic arm came up while working in one of theirdevelopment projects in Sunderbans area in Gosaba block. Soon after, severallikeminded people and well-wishers came forward and formed SACHETA with aview to serve the distressed and the underserved in Sunderbans.
After relentless effort of more than ten years and having worked from variousmakeshift centres in the area, SACHETA finally came up with its own office cumeducation centre in Amtali village (Sunderbans) in the year 2016. With its epicenterin Amtoli and with the help of local resident teachers, SACHETA today functionsfrom multiple centres, spread over a radius of 30 kms in and around the Gosabablock of Sunderbans. Post Covid period, SACHETA has also started newcollaborations with like-minded organizations to reach out to other places,beyond Sunderbans.
Over the years SACHETA has developed a strong template of programme delivery.With curated impact designs, innovative tools and capacity building programmesfor its resident teachers and volunteers, it is continuously striving to make itselfstrong and sustainable.

His foray into philanthropy started very early in his life which took concrete shape after his retirement from IIT Kharagpur when Shape Charitable Trust (SACHETA) was formed in the year 2005 under his vision and guidance. Till his last day, he took active interest in the affairs of the Trust. He remains the guiding light for Team SACHETA.
